How do I create a vacation response or automatic reply email?

Using the Yahoo! interface, you can create an automatic reply to anyone who sends an email to your Business Email account by setting up a vacation response. You might want to set up this autoreply feature when you will be away and unable to respond to email for a short period. To set up a vacation response:

Sign in to your Business Email account at http://mail.yourdomain.com/ (be sure to replace "yourdomain.com" with your domain name). You'll be prompted to enter your Yahoo! ID and password if you haven't already.

Click the "Mail Options" link in the upper-right corner of the page, then select "Vacation Response."

Now you'll set the duration of the message: Enter the starting date of your vacation in the "Start Date" field and the end date of your vacation in the "End Date" field.

In the Generic Response text field, enter a generic note of up to 10 lines; this will be sent to anyone who writes to your email address while you are away.

Optional: You can also write a special note that will be sent only to specific domains. For example, if you have family members who have email addresses with IBM, you might create a more personal response to any incoming messages from "any-name@ibm.net." Enter your optional note in the Special Response text box, then scroll down and enter the domain(s) to which you want the special response sent.

If you'd like to see a sample of either of your autoreplies, click on the corresponding "Send a sample copy of this message to my Inbox" box. A sample will be sent to your inbox.

When you're finished creating your autoreplies, click the "Turn Auto-Response On" button to activate your vacation response.

To turn off your autoreply before the end date you specified, return to the Vacation Response page and click the "Turn Auto-Response On" button to deactivate the response. To edit your autoreply, make any changes on the Vacation Response page and click the "Save Changes" button.

Please note: When someone sends a message to your email address after you activate an autoreply, the user will receive a single vacation response, even if he or she writes more than once.
